Ion Photo Award - Hood River 2006
ION sponsors the event of the Summer! On the night of August 19th Hood River kite fans gather at the Horse & Hound Pub to clap, hollar & call out their vote to decide the winner of the ION PHOTO AWARD. Up to 20 Photographers (and their team of riders, models, assistants) will have from Dawn till Dusk to capture ION & KITING in the North West- the team that brings us to our knees laughing is sure to walk away with the Viewer's Choice Award of $1,000 plus dollars. Who said they never heard of ION?
The ION PHOTO AWARD is the Iron Chef of Kiting! Photographers assemble a team for a day long photo shoot to capture the spirit of Kiting in the Northwest. But their judges are not high minded professionals, they are Saturday Night Kite Fiends! Teams must keep in mind who will be determining the winner. A few of the Rules: all photos are to be taken from Dawn till Dusk on the 19th, only 3 of the 10 photos can include people not on your team, each team will have 1 minute to present their slide show and at least 50% of the images must feature kiting.
Although many professional Photographers will be participating, it is by no means limited or guaranteed to be an easy win for them. It is all about the team. A fun group of friends will have just as good a chance at impressing the unruly crowd at the ION PHOTO AWARD Slide Show- held at the Horse & Hound Pub at 10pm. Warning: contents may not be suitable for all ages.

ION PHOTO AWARD RULES
- Orientation meeting at 'The Pub' in Hood River on Friday, August 18th at 8pm
- Photos are all to be taken on Saturday, August 19th from Dawn till Dusk
- 15+ Teams of 5 or more people
- Your team is to consist of: Riders, Models, Assistants, etc.
- PHOTO CONTENT: 100% ION logo
- PHOTO CONTENT: 70% Team Content
- PHOTO CONTENT: 50% Includes Kiting or Kite Gear
- ION Sponsored Riders will be available to all teams for photo op
- Teams can go anywhere (depart at Dawn, Return by Dusk)
- 1 Disk with 10 images is to be submitted at 9pm
- Plus 1 cover slide to introduce the Team
- Winners are Viewer's Choice Award (Clap-o-Meter)
- Round 1: ALL: 1 minute slide show presentation per team
- Round 2: TOP 3: 3 minute presentation per team
- There is 1 Grand Prize Cash Winner $1,000 (up to $1,500- depending on number of participants)
- Runner up & Honorable Mention will win SHWAG
- Photographers will sign a limited release of the images submitted
- Photos will be up on ION-essentials.com website
- Winner will release winning photos for Magazine Event Coverage
- Event Coordinator may sell photos, with the mutual benefit to Photographer
